About Us
45 Million Voices is an independent nonprofit organization. We are in no way affiliated with any abortion clinic.
Jennifer is a proud mother, wife and activist for ALL women. She graduated with honors from the University of Michigan majoring in Women’s Studies and History. She devoted nearly ten years of her life working with the most dedicated and professional women at Northland Family Planning. She no longer works there, however she is still committed to helping women who have had abortions. One of Jennifer’s proudest moments is the vigil she organized for Dr. George Tiller, the only vigil in Michigan. She was heavily involved in the Obama presidential campaign, and has volunteered for MARAL, Safe House, Ozone House, and numerous other organizations. Jennifer plans to continue her dedication to women through her work with 45 Million Voices.
Kate has held the hands of thousands of women before, during, and after their abortions. She was introduced to the world of abortion care by Dr. George Tiller when she interned at his Wichita, Kansas clinic in 2001 as part of a community organizing team with the Feminist Majority Foundation. It was through working with Dr. Tiller that she learned about compassion and the importance of every woman owning her story. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a degree in Women's Studies and Black World Studies. She has worked at a private clinic in Michigan and has also worked at a Planned Parenthood affiliate on the east coast. She has a passion for accessible community healthcare and in addition to being an abortion counselor, she is a doula and has worked as an HIV counselor.
We both believe that the act of listening to a woman talk about her abortion decision is an absolute honor, and we are humbled by it. We have been honored to listen to women tell us why they are having abortions, and how they feel about it. We know, intimately, what it is like to go to an abortion clinic, and work in one. We know what it is like to wait for hours for your abortion. We know what it is like to have to jump through the hoops that are state laws just to have your abortion. We’ve been the one to tell a woman, “I’m so sorry, you are too far for an abortion.” We’ve been the one to sit with a mother and her daughter, who just found out she is pregnant. “What do I do? What do you think of me? Will you come with me, during my surgery? How could this happen? Is this normal? Is it ok to feel this sure of my decision?” We have both helped women find an answer to these questions before their abortion, with guidance, support and love.
